Curatorial narrative

This manuscript includes the Aethiopian Tale by Heliodorus of Emesa. The plot of this ancient Greek novel is full of adventures, changes of scenes, and takes place in Ethiopia and Egypt. This text was copied in the 11th century as a reading for entertainment. Over the long history of this manuscript, an erased parchment folio was inserted as a protective folio in the front of the codex. The erased text used to contain liturgical canons. As a note above this erased text notifies the reader, this manuscript arrived to the Vatican library on October 29, 1546.
