Vat.gr.1876 <inf.1-4>

The current manuscript is the March volume of the twelve-volume set of a Menaeum dating from the 12th/13th century. The complete set of the Menaeum consisted of twelve volumes. This set played an important role in the Orthodox Liturgy because it contained the propers, i.e. those sections of the liturgy which vary according to the date and are independent from the Easter cycles. The manuscript recycled fragments from four different codices, from another Menaeum (10th c.), a premetaphrastic collection of Saints' Lives (7th/8th c., in Sloping Ogival Majuscule), a hagiographic manuscript from the late tenth century and a liturgical manuscript from the ninth century (in Sloping Ogival Majuscule).
