Il Barb. gr. 388 conserva frammenti palinsesti di tre diversi manoscritti in slavo ecclesiastico (e.g. f. 57r; cfr. D'Aiuto, Su alcuni manoscritti greci, p. 420). Ad esempio, f. 57r è un frammento di testi liturgici (Ottoeco) copiato in Bulgaria e in Serbia nel XII-XIII secolo. Il testo superiore fu vergato da un certo Ioannes (cfr. la sua sottoscrizione a f. 164r) nel XIII o XIV secolo, una datazione, questa, basata sulle caratteristiche paleografiche della scrittura.
