Venendo a’ dottori sacri, che sono in latino, egli ha voluto tutte l’opere de’ quatro dottori [Urb. lat. 52, 74], e che lettere! e che libri! e come degni! non avendo rispetto a spesa ignuna. Fatti e’ quatro dottori, è venuto di poi et ha voluto tutte l’opere di sancto Bernardo, et tutti e’ dottori sacri antichi, non ha voluto che ve ne manchi ignuno. Tertulliano, Ilario, Remigio, Ugo di Sancto Victore, Isidoro, Anselmo, Rabano, et tutti e’ dotori sacri antichi che mai iscrissono. De’ latini venendo agli scritori sacri ebono i Greci, che sono latini, egli ha volute l’opere di Dionisio Areopigita, sancto Basilio, Cirillo, Gregorio Nazanzeno, Giovanni Damasceno, che sono latini sancto Giovanni Grisostimo, Gregorio Niceno, Eusebio, tutte l’opere sua, Efrem monaco, Origene iscrittore excellentissimo. Venendo a’ dottori latini, così in filosofia come in teologia, tutte l’opere di sancto Tomaso d’Aquino [Urb. lat. 136], tutte l’opere d’Alberto Magno, tutte l’opere di Alessandro de Ales, tutte l’opere di Schoto, tutte l’opere di Buonaventura, l’opere di Richardo de Mediavilla, tutte l’opere dell’arcivescovo Antonino et tutti e’ dottori moderni che sono d’autorità, l’ha volute infino alle Conformità di sancto Francesco, tutte l’opere di ragione civile, testi bellissimi, tutte le letture di Bartolo [di Sassoferrato] in cavreti, et molti iscrittori in ragione civili.

La Bibia, libro excellentissimo, hallo facto in dua volumi istoriati, tanto ricco et degno quanto dire si potessi, coperto di brocato d’oro, fornita d’ariento ricchissimamente, et questa ha facta così rica, come capo di tutti gli scritori [Urb. lat. 1-2; cfr. anche Urb. lat. 10]. Et tutti i comenti che l’hanno comentata, così del Maestro delle sententie, come Nicolao de Lira, et tutti li dotori antichi che l’hanno comentata, così i latini come i greci, et tutta la chiosa literale di Nicolaio de Lira, questo è libro che in questa età non s’è facto il simile.
