Figura dal profilo ancora problematico per l’assenza di materiale documentario, egli lascia il suo nome – «Ioanes Chorenti opus» – sulla pagina di incipit dal ricco inquadramento architettonico dell'Urb. lat. 326. È probabile che la prima attività dell’artista si sia svolta nell’ambiente della corte dei Gonzaga a Mantova, con una formazione costruita sull’osservazione delle opere monumentali di Andrea Mantegna, come ad esempio la Camera degli Sposi (la camera picta) nel Castello di San Giorgio nel centro lombardo o la Cappella Ovetari nella chiesa degli Eremitani a Padova, e sull’adozione quindi dell’imagerie dell’antiquaria padano-ferrarese. A tal proposito, la critica attribuisce al miniatore imprese come quella del Tito Livio, probabilmente degli anni ’60 del Quattrocento (Torino, Biblioteca nazionale Universitaria, ms. J. II. 5), copiato da Bartolomeo Sanvito (de la Mare - Nuvoloni, Bartolomeo Sanvito, p. 140), e la Historia naturalis di Plinio datata attorno al 1475 (Torino, Biblioteca nazionale Universitaria, ms. J. I. 22-23), nella quale fu però coinvolto anche Pietro Guindaleri. Corenti fu quindi nel gruppo dei miniatori ferraresi e padani che dalla seconda metà degli anni ’70 lavorò con continuità per la collezione di Federico da Montefeltro, per il quale egli realizzò, oltre all’Urb. lat. 326, anche l’Urb. lat. 324, l’Urb. lat. 325 e l’Urb. lat. 353.
