Nella biblioteca di Federico giunsero anche codici non commissionati direttamente dal signore di Urbino, ma giunti in dono o acquistati da un proprietario precedente. Tra questi vi è un esemplare del De re militari di Roberto Valturio, l'Urb. lat. 281, vergato da un famulus dello stesso autore, Sigismondo di Niccolò Alemanno, scriba attivo a Rimini almeno dal 1462 al 1470, che vergò diverse copie di quel testo, contribuendo alla sua diffusione. Anonimo è invece il copista dell’Urb. lat. 248, un Galeno del sec. XIV donato a Federico nel 1475.

Tra i manoscritti del percorso si segnalano inoltre altri due casi: l'Urb. lat. 264, codice padovano latore del De re edificatoria di Leon Battista Alberti - realizzato per Federico (come testimonia la maestosa aquila feltresca che al f. 1r trattiene lo stemma ducale) -, la cui mano è stata attribuita inizialmente a Pietro Antonio Sallando, attivo a Bologna dal 1489 al 1540 circa, e successivamente ad Antonius de Salla, copista documentato a Padova tra il 1489 e il 1496; e il Urb. lat. 410, per il quale sembra di poter riconoscere nel «Franciscus Tholentinas», che si sottoscrive al termine del codice, il nipote di Francesco Filelfo, che fu attivo tra il 1464 e il 1470 nell’ambito della corte milanese e coinvolto nella produzione di codici idiografi per conto dell’umanista.
