The medal representing the Altar of the Chair, splendid invention by Bernini, can be considered the most beautiful one of the 17th century. As soon as the Pope saw the sketch for the medal prepared by Bernini himself, he showed his great enthusiasm to such a point that he prepared a list of potential legends to be placed on it, noting even the spaces and the number of letters that would form it.
