Curatorial narrative
The current manuscript is a miscellaneous collection of theological works that was bound together from five distinct parts dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. The first part (ff. 1r-79v) includes excerpts from John Chrysostom, Basil the Great, some letters of Theodore the Studite and a section from the ecclesiastic hierarchy of Ps.-Dionysius the Aeropagite. The second part (ff. 80r-111r) contains various poems of the Byzantine poet, Manuel Philes. The third part (ff. 112r-148v) contains a selection of short passages and sentences from a wide range of Church authorities. The fourth part (ff. 148ar-155v) contains excerpts from the works of Symeon Metaphrastes. The fifth part (ff. 156r-165v) preserves excerpts from Basil the Great, and epistles of John Chrysostom, Theodore the Studite. The first part includes recycled folios that derive from three earlier codices. One of them (f. 50) probably belonged to a prayer book (euchologion). Ten folios (ff. 52-59, 61-62) derive from a liturgical codex that was written in Sloping Ogival Majuscule in the 9th century. One bifolio (ff. 60 + 63) is a double palimpsest. The earlier text, copied in Sloping Ogival Majuscule, is no longer legible. The second layer of text, copied in the 11th century, contains fragments from the Old Testament.
