Curatorial narrative
Vat. gr. 308 is a massive codex which is historically a single manuscript consists of two parts which are conserved apart and received distinct identifications as part 1 (ff. 1r-177v) and part 2 (ff. 178r-362v). This historically single manuscript contains commentaries on the hymns written by Saint Cosmas of Maiuma and Saint John of Damascus. The bulk of the codex (ff. 1r-302v) contains the commentaries by Theodorus Prodromus followed by those by Gregory of Corinth (ff. 303r-357r). The manuscript received protective flyleaves recycled from earlier liturgical codices (9th-10th century), from the December and January volumes of the Menaeum (pt. 1, f. IIr-v and pt. 2, f. 362r-v).
