Sinibaldus C.

c. 1417-1484

A Florentine scribe active around the middle of the fifteenth century and close collaborator of Vespasiano da Bisticci. He includes his own name in only one colophon in the year 1461 ((«[...] Finit Sinibaldus C. Scripsit M.CCCCLXI», Florence, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, ms. Laur. Fies. 43). Albinia De la Mare recognizes his hand in 49 manuscripts, including 16 Urbinati (Urb. lat. 74, Urb. lat. 75, Urb. lat. 330, Urb. lat. 331, Urb. lat. 334, Urb. lat. 343, Urb. lat. 347, Urb. lat. 358, Urb. lat. 370, Urb. lat. 414, Urb. lat. 641, Urb. lat. 658, Urb. lat. 660, Urb. lat. 668, Urb. lat. 669 e Urb. lat. 881), and is inclined to identify it with the Florentine notary Ser Sinibaldo of Ser Sozzo Cacciaconti di Volterra, but finds no evidence to prove the claim. She states, however, that he ought not be identified with Antonio Sinibaldi, as it occurs in Bénédictins du Bouveret, Colophons de manuscrits occidentaux, I, p. 153 nr. 1228.
